Become CA+T's Sponsor!: Center for Art and Thought Launches Online Fundraiser August 26

One-month fundraiser enables donors to sponsor projects and help the nonprofit organization remain a free online cultural and educational resource of Filipino art and thought.

The Center for Art and Thought (CA+T), a web-based arts and education nonprofit organization, announces the launch of an online donation campaign: the "Be a Part of the Center for Art and Thought" Fundraiser. The fundraiser will run for one month (Mon., Aug. 26 - Fri., Sept. 27) on Fundly.com (fundly.com/beapartofcat).

In early August, the Center for Art and Thought officially launched its website (www.centerforartandthought.org), which features virtual exhibitions, commissioned original works, publications, and more. The site is a free resource of creative and scholarly content educating a wider public about Filipino diasporic cultures and about the global trends and conditions that shape not only Filipinos’ experiences but all citizens of an increasingly globalized world. The initial response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic: "Since CA+T's website launched, we've received very positive, encouraging feedback especially from artists, teachers, and college students," said Sarita See, Executive Director of CA+T. "Several professors and graduate student instructors are incorporating works and interviews from our inaugural online exhibition 'Sea, Land, Air' and from Kimberly Alidio's virtual residency into their syllabi for this coming fall." In line with the nonprofit's mission to harness the potential of new media and digital technologies, CA+T is using online crowdfunding platform, Fundly.com, for its first fundraiser.

The "Be a Part of the Center for Art and Thought" Fundraiser enables donors to play an active part in CA+T's growth. "It has been my goal and dream for many years now that people would have free, easy access to this rich, thought-provoking range of creative and scholarly work," said See. "With our first fundraiser, we invite those who have found our site to be a valuable resource to sponsor our projects."  By contributing before September 27, donations to the Fundly campaign can help 1) to raise public awareness, 2) to maintain and develop CA+T’s website or 3) to sponsor one of CA+T’s four major projects. Project sponsors, who will be named on the website, can support a Virtual Curated Exhibition, an installment in the Dialogues series, a Commissioned New Work, or the Artist-in-Residence Virtual Residency program. Because CA+T is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, all donations are tax deductible!
