Trefler's does not restore just antiques, but also items of sentimental value.

Antiques, furniture, fine art, ceramics, glass and even metals often need the skillful touch and care of a restoration expert. This year Trefler’s, Boston’s best and only comprehensive resource for all restoration needs, is proud to be a Sponsor of the 2014 Ellis Boston Antiques, Art and Design show, October 23-26 in Boston. Trefler’s participation in Ellis Boston helps educate people on the importance of preserving and restoring the items that are valuable to them.   Trefler’s is located at 29 Tower Road in Newton Upper Falls, MA.  Hours are Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 6:00PM, and Saturdays from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. For additional information, visit www.Trefler.com or call 617-965-3388.

Along with sponsoring the show Trefler’s will offer two on-site presentations over the course of the weekend.  On Friday Trefler’s will present an ongoing demonstration as a part of “New Collectors Night”, entitled ‘Restoring and Caring for Your Favorite Things’.  On Saturday at 5:30 pm their demonstration, “The Art of Art Restoration", features Trefler’s own Janet Moran. Moran, who has been a part of Trefler’s team for almost 30 years, is the head painting conservator and a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA). Trefler’s will give both demonstrations in their booth near the show’s Lecture Hall.

Founded in 1921, Trefler’s expertly mixes century-old techniques with modern restoration technology to execute some of the best repairs in the world. Trefler’s restoration experts apply their skills not only to antiques and fine art, but also to any item that a customer might be interested in repairing for sentimental reasons. No project is too big or too small.  “ We are ready to take on any level of restoration and repair,” comments David Manzi, President of Trefler’s.  “The public is invited to take a tour of our workshops, and see what we can do to preserve your family’s heritage.  We will even repair your favorite coffee mug!”

Today, many of Trefler’s customers utilize their services to repurpose and reuse furniture that no longer fits their lifestyle.  Recently, the furniture experts at Trefler’s re-sized a favorite dining room table to fit into a Boston apartment when the owner downsized from a home in the suburbs.  Another client had Trefler’s re-paint an old bureau in a whimsical pattern for a child’s room.  “It’s all about being Green today,” comments Leslie Burnard, Trefler’s Director of Marketing and Sales. “And we love a challenge.”

Trefler’s was founded in Germany, where Abraham Trefler began a small business building and restoring furniture.  Abraham’s son, Eric, was one of the few survivors of the camps in Poland and Germany during World War II.  After Liberation, he left Europe for America and finally settled in Boston, where he initially worked as a furniture restorer for antique dealers on Beacon Street.  He ultimately opened his own business, and using the expertise he learned form his father, quickly became recognized for his uncanny ability to store almost any kind of object.  Today, Trefler’s is still owned by the Trefler family.

The fourth annual Ellis Boston takes place October 23-26, 2014 at The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for The Arts in Boston’s hip and historic South End. Featuring 40 exhibitors of the highest quality, drawn from both previous shows, as well as many new additions, the show offers antiques, 20th Century design, jewelry, fine art, silver, antiquities, tribal arts, decorative arts, and more.

Weekend show hours are Friday 1pm-8pm, Saturday 11am-8pm, and Sunday 11am-5pm. Admission is $15 at the door, under 12 free, and includes complimentary special programs, re-admission, catalog and coat check. A café, discount and valet parking are available.
