Bedford Fine Art Gallery

Impressionist painter Franklin Edward Morris lived Mansfield, Ohio but was active in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C. and New York City. Largely self-taught, Morris traveled throughout the western United States and his early work is dominated by western-themed subjects. Although he also painted floral still-lifes, his specially was to become landscapes, especially views of the various city streets and avenues of New York City. He also painted the steel mills of Pittsburgh, PA; Mystic Seaport, Connecticut; Gloucester Harbor, Maine,; and Washington, D.C. His mature style appears to have been influenced by the early 20th century American Impressionist artists. Morris exhibited at Vixsebose Gallery (Cleveland, OH); Cincinnati Art Galleries (OH); Apple and Carpenter Galleries (Sarasota, FL); Cooley Gallery (Old Lyme, CT); Sarasota Art Galleries (FL); Griffith Gallery, (Pittsburgh, PA); Canyon Art Gallery (TX): and Swains Gallery (Morristown, NJ).
