JOSEPHINE with Gemini African Dancers - 2018
#fineartmichaelkilgore

EARLIER THIS WEEK, I ANNOUNCED THAT MY HISTORIC

JOSEPHINE BAKER EXHIBIT WHICH PREMIERED IN HARLEM

PAYING HOMAGE TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICONIC

HARLEM RENAISSANCE PERIOD, WILL BE PRESENTED NEXT

IN WHERE ELSE, BUT HER BELOVED PARIS, FRANCE.

IN 2012, I CONCEPTUALIZED THE HARLEM EXHIBIT AND

IT WAS PRESENTED 7 YEARS LATER IN 2019 AT THE LEGENDARY

ALHAMBRA BALLROOM, WHERE JOSEPHINE ACTUALLY PERFORMED,

AS DID COUNT BASIE, TOMMY DORSEY, BILLIE HOLIDAY,

DUKE ELLINGTON, CAB CALLOWAY, AND OTHER LUMINARIES.

IT WILL NOT TAKE 7 YEARS THIS TIME, YET,

IT WILL TAKE TIME, THIS WILL BE THE LARGEST JOSEPHINE BAKER

EXHIBIT EVER PRESENTED IN PARIS BY ONE SINGULAR ARTIST,

AS IT WAS IN HARLEM, I CREATED 138 ARTWORKS OF JOSEPHINE,

OF WHICH 100 WERE SELECTED FOR THE EXHIBIT. CURRENTLY,

I AM APPROACHING MY 200TH INTERPRETATION OF JOSEPHINE.

THERE ARE NO SPECIFIC DETAILS AT THIS TIME EXCEPT TO SAY,

ONCE AGAIN, MY HISTORIC JOSEPHINE BAKER EXHIBIT WILL BE

TRAVELING FROM HARLEM TO PARIS. I AM THANKFUL & GRATEFUL.
