The Last All Request Summer Cocktail Friday of Summer...
Snowy Mango Rum Cocktail
From Diane Rafaels
Serves one - but you know you should be generous, so do the math.
Orange juice – 2 ounces
Rum - 1 ounce
Mango nectar - 2 ounces
Pineapple juice - 2 ounces
Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake until mixed.
You can make a snow coat over the rim of a long glass with powdered sugar. To do this, you must wet the top of the glass with some fruit or tip it in juice. Then dip the rim of the glass in powdered sugar. Snow! Turn the glass right side up again, add ice. Pour the shaken liquid over the ice. Add a straw. Enjoy the delightful contradiction of coolth in the tropics. Or, if you are getting through the remnants of Hurricane Earl, cheers!
The week of crankiness ends with the delightful prospect of a three day weekend! Happy Labor Day to all! I suggest that you whip up one of these tropical delights this weekend. We have three days for yard work, movies and cookouts. Charles and Camilla just love going native. For Charles that means taking off his tie, unbuttoning his top button and not wearing knee socks with his Bermuda shorts. Camilla has some new Lilly gear she wants to wear - she is so delighted at the prospect of the pink and green combo. Like June Thomas of Slate magazine she has used The Original Preppy Handbook as her primer to learning American culture. If she could only get Charles to wear those blucher mocs from Bean instead of the handmade Lobbs...
