Andrew Thomas Schwartz was born in Louisville, Kentucky. His years abroad “influenced the style of his decorative landscapes and figure compositions…so delightful in their patterned design of hill and trees, show a coolness of color that is refreshing to see, this from the Cincinnati-Commercial-Tribune in 1918. Schwartz was a member of the National Society of Mural Painters, the Salmagundi Club, the Architectural League of New York, Allied Artists of America, American Watercolor Society, the Circolo Artistico (Rome, Italy), and the Union International Des Beaux Arts et Des Lettres (Paris, France). He exhibited at the National Academy of Design (NYC): Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (Philadelphia, PA); the Art Institute of Chicago, the Carnegie Institute International (Pittsburgh, PA); Panama–Pacific International Exposition (San Francisco, 1915).
