Another destination I discovered on my whirlwind research trip to the Eastern Shore of Maryland was this fabulous new bakery in Chestertown: Against the Grain. I spent years standing in the cafeteria line at the College trying to figure out what "Chicken Fried Steak" really was, while today's students can stroll into town for buttery, flaky pain au chocolat. The bakery's address is 203 High Street. I do not know why the geese aren't camped out front, waiting to get their fair share of the bread crumbs!
