Symposium: Conflicts of Interest: Art and War in Modern Japan
In conjunction with the exhibition Conflicts of Interest: Art and War in Modern Japan (October 16, 2016–January 8, 2017), this symposium will examine creative practices and social experiences relating to Japan's wars between the late nineteenth and first half of the twentieth centuries through art history, material and visual culture, sociology, literature, and history. Philip Hu, Associate Curator of Asian Art, Saint Louis Art Museum, will host and moderate the symposium.
