Transient Views: The Places of Our Lives

http://www.reavesart.com/Exhibit_Detail.cfm?ShowsID=174

In this exhibition, Transient Views: The Places of Our Lives, we show three Houston artists of three generations whose works reflect places and moments of consequence which they have encountered in their own lives, and whose aesthetic expression places firm hold on these most transient of moments, freezing and perpetuating the view for themselves and all who follow.  The exhibition skillfully balances the stunning contemporary architectural abstractions of the Glassell’s Ken Mazzu, with recent paintings of the legendary Richard Stout, (steeped, as they are in the artist’s reflections upon neighborhood and home); and astonishing mid-century photography of the late Jim Culberson.  The selections show the remarkable facility of these three incredible hometown artists whose works mark the moments of their lives.  As Houstonians begin yet another momentous year, Transient Views offers patrons a moving and inspirational art experience, with lots of personal moments for reflecting upon the meaningful places and blessed moments of our own times – both times past and times yet to come.  If only we could all be artists!

Transient Views:  The Places of our Lives will be on view January 6-28, 2017 at William Reaves | Sarah Foltz Fine Art with an opening reception Saturday, January 7th from 6-8:30pm. Artist talks will be held Saturday, January 14th, January 21st and January 28th from 2-4pm.
