A pop-up exhibition by The Art Assassins and New Contemporaries artist Laila Majid explores themes of transformation and formlessness.
During a series of workshops, the Art Assassins used scanners, photocopiers and phone cameras, documenting and altering bodies, images and objects. Surrealist photography and low budget science-fiction movies inspired the work which led to an exploration of the body’s potential to undergo change towards alien and unfamiliar forms.
The resulting pop-up exhibition will take over the Fire Station attic at South London Gallery, during the closing weekend of Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition. New Contemporaries pilot programme of collaborative workshops between partner organisations gives participants access to New Contemporaries which seeks to encourage young people to consider further education and a career in the arts.
