Art After 5: Matt Ulery’s LOOM Trio with Eighth Blackbird
Genre-defying bassist-composer Matt Ulrey is part of the new generation of Chicago jazz innovators. He pulls from a wide variety of influences, from traditional jazz to new-music, from film soundtracks to Balkan folk music. Together with pianist Rob Clearfield and drummer Lucus Gillan they perform as the LOOM Trio. For this concert the trio is joined by members of the two-time Grammy Award-winning sextet Eighth Blackbird, a string ensemble that has been described as having the energy of a rock band and the audacity of a storefront theater company. This free concert is scheduled for 7:00 pm (Indoor Performance*) Art After 5 is a free music series inspired by the exhibitions of the Saint Louis Art Museum occurring the fourth Friday of every month.
