Mantegna to Man Ray: Six Explorations in Prints, Drawings, and Photographs
Two galleries repurposed to display rotating exhibitions from the Museum’s collection of works on paper will open with Mantegna to Man Ray: Six Explorations in Prints, Drawings and Photographs, which presents six areas of exceptional depth and quality in the collections from the 15th to the 20th centuries. The exhibition begins with a selection from the first 200 years of printmaking, including groundbreaking works by Andrea Mantegna, Albrecht Dürer, and Rembrandt van Rijn. Later highlights include one of Max Beckmann’s densely layered dry point series, sumptuous large-scale pastels of dancers by Edgar Degas, and a group of European photographs from the seminal decades between the two world wars, including Man Ray’s [Iris]. Co-curated by Elizabeth Wyckoff, Curator, and Eric Lutz, Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, Mantegna to Man Ray will be on view during regular Museum hours from April 26 to October 27, 2013. Free. *Please Note: The Museum will be closed for Grand Opening preparations June 15-28. Grand Opening festivities take place Saturday June 29, 10 AM to 10 PM, and June 30, 10 AM to 5 PM.
