For more than forty years, Andy Taylor has been drawing and painting scenery within a day’s drive of Carbondale: the 250 miles to the north, south and west, across the Colorado Plateau, with its spectacular canyons, high plains, distant mesas, winding rivers, sparse trees and sundry vegetation. He is most interested in the colors, the shapes, the weather and the occasional places where water changes things. His loyal collectors enjoy hanging the easily identifiable landmarks such as the cliffs outside Rifle and Chinle Wash in Chaco Canyon on their walls.

Andy explains,

“For me painting is about exploration and discovery: exploring different ways of seeing or different ways of expressing what I see and discovering what I want to paint and discovering things as I paint. And, if successful, the result is hopefully an engaging visual treat.”

His audience has expanded beyond the Roaring Fork Valley over the years, boosted most recently by his selection as a National Western Club Artist (2015-2017) in the annual Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale in Denver.
