ABOUT PEGGY JUDY
Peggy Judy was born to be an artist, as she understood even as a child. Her destiny was sealed by one important fact: she was smitten by the natural beauty of her native Colorado. So, she painted and drew throughout her high school and college years. Upon graduation from Colorado State University in 1982 with a Bachleor of Fine Arts and a concentration in illustration, she began her professional career as an illustrator, working for various corporations and the Deptartment of Energy, all in the Denver area.
When she married an equine veterinarian in 1988, Peggy was able to meld her passion for all things “horse” with her art, although she spent much of her time breeding, raising, training and selling Warmblood Sport horses.
Peggy’s work has been categorized as Contemporary Western. She gives traditional western subject matter a unique, expressive interpretation. Drawing and draftsmanship is the skeleton of her work, but the color, shapes and lines take the subject beyond the usual. Negative space is as important to the balance of each piece as the positive space.
In 2012, Peggy won the Best of Show Award in the Tesoro Spanish Culture and Western Heritage Art Show in Morrison, CO. Her work won First Place in the Painting category in the Fine Arts Festival in Golden, CO in 2013. In 2015 her work was included in the Coors Western Art Exhibition & Sale in Denver, CO, as well as the 2015 Mountain Oyster Club, Western Art Show and Sale, Tucson, AZ, the EightxEight Invitational Art Show and Sale at the Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, and the TX Stampede Western Invitational Art Exhibit and Sale at the Greeley Stampede Rodeo. In 2016 she was included in six shows, including again the 2016 Texas Stampede Western Art Invitational and the EightxEight Art Invitational Sale.
