Midcentury Along the Delaware

http://www.appraisersassociation.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=Calendar.eventDetail&eventid=656&pageid=4

Join us for a full day of Midcentury connoisseurship along the Delaware River!

The group will meet at the Studio of George Nakashima. Midcentury furniture historian, Judith Gura, will lead a discussion with Mira Nakashima, the artist’s daughter, who is also a furniture designer in the tradition of her father. Historic examples of George and Mira Nakashima’s furniture will be on display.

Next we will visit Rago Auction’s Annex. Judith Gura will lead a discussion of mid-century furniture in the current auction with Jad Attal, Rago’s modern furniture specialist.

After lunch (included in program fee), we will go to Rago’s gallery. Ceramics historian and appraiser, Dr. Tom Folk, will lead a discussion with David Rago, the auction gallery’s founder, about the market for midcentury ceramics. Rago and Folk will review items in the current auction.

Lastly, we will meet at the studio of noted ceramic artist, Toshiko Takaezu.
Many major iconic examples will be on display. Tom Folk will lead a discussion with Don Fletcher, the director of this house museum.

Note: attendees are responsible for their own transport. Some carpool may be available.
