The Donald Danforth Jr. Annual Lecture: Plains Tribal Art: A Renewed Appreciation
6:30 pm. Public Reception, 5:30 pm. The Museum’s second annual Danforth Lecture will feature speaker Arthur Amiotte, respected Lakota artist, historian, writer, lecturer, and educator. Mr. Amiotte’s artistic oeuvre spans five decades; his themes center on the presentation of Lakota art, life, and philosophy, and utilize a wide variety of media. Amiotte has also written extensively on Lakota art and society, and he has received numerous awards, including a Getty Foundation Grant and the South Dakota Governor’s Award. The Donald Danforth Jr. Annual Lecture on Native American Art honors the legacy of the late Mr. Danforth and his love of Native American culture and the West.
