Harris & Ruble ART invite you to PAINTINGS BY LOIS HOWARD opening reception from 5-9 pm, Saturday, July 23rd
Reflections on life experiences are brought into whatever art form we pursue. They are an integral part of each of us, revelations of what we are and what we have been, a mirror with the viewer as the final element. - Lois Howard Harris & Ruble·ART, Hollywood’s showcase for fine art and photography, is pleased to invite you to its summer exhibition, PAINTINGS by Lois Howard, which will open on July 23, 2011 from 5 pm - 9 pm. Lois Howard’s paintings reflect Lois’s lifetime pursuit of self-expression. These paintings are reflective of this complex woman who has studied and painted around the world. She captures an objective expressionism that presents us with abstract symbols and images which allow the viewers to inject their own meaning and understanding into these compelling works. Lois Howard developed a desire to paint out of her love of flowers, and her interest in Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging. She studied Ikebana in Japan and became fluent in its language and culture. While getting a degree in political science at UCLA, she also minored in fine arts. Later she attended the University of Bern in Switzerland, where she studied international economics. Her quest for knowledge coupled with a true world view has enabled her to have a complex and creative perspective on life and her art. Today, she paints under the tutelage of Tom Wudl. Lois also continues to study botanical illustration under the guidance of AnneMarie Evans, world recognized artist, instructor and founder of the Botanical Painting Diploma program in London, England. In addition, Lois delights in exploring other styles of painting, synthesizing these ideas and skills into her ever evolving body of work. Exhibition schedule: July 23rd to August 30th, Monday through Friday, 1 pm – 6pm, Saturday and Sunday by appointment.
