The Saint Louis Art Museum presents this unique opportunity to examine millinery as a key subject for Edgar Degas and his Impressionist circle, situating their images of hatmakers, shoppers, and hats within wider historical contexts of developing fashion, changing attitudes to women, and shifting patterns of trade.
The symposium is held in conjunction with main exhibition Degas, Impressionism, and the Paris Millinery Trade (February 12–May 7).
