In the fast-paced presentation style known as Pecha Kucha, speakers will tackle diverse issues such as the future of food production, the changing face of hunger, land preservation, and urban farming. Ric Bretschneider, founder of the San Jose branch of Pecha Kucha, will moderate. Scheduled topics and speakers are: “The Evolving Role of Land Trusts in Ensuring Viable Agriculture” Paul Ringgold, vice president of land stewardship, Peninsula Open Space Trust, Palo Alto, California. “How to Create a Sustainable Local Food System” Zach Lewis, executive director, Garden to Table, San Jose. “Emma Prusch Farm Park Foundation: Fostering One Woman’s Legacy” Amie Frisch, board member, Emma Prusch Farm Park Foundation, San Jose. “Food Insecurity in the Bay Area...What is Being Done” Cindy McCown, vice president of programs and services, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. “Organizing the Seeds of Change” Elizabeth Birnbaum, program coordinator, Ecological Farming Association, Soquel, California. “Eat a Rainbow Every Day” Patricia Narciso, director of development, Children’s Discovery Museum, San Jose. “Hunger at Home” Ewell Sterner, director of food and beverage, facilities and operations, TEAM San Jose.
