Art After 5: Joan Soriano, Duke of Bachata
Join us for free music and art at the Museum! This adventurous music series takes its cue from the amazing diversity of art in the Museum’s collection. Bachata music was born in the impoverished neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic, but today is one of the Caribbean’s most popular styles of music. Bachata is a rhythmic, guitar-based music that often conveys the sweetness and sadness of longing. Joan Soriano has played bachata professionally since he was 13 years old and is known for his melodious voice and charisma. For this acoustic performance, he will be accompanied by two additional musicians. Joan Soriano, Duke of Bachata begins promptly at 7:00 PM in Grigg Gallery. Limited Seating. *Free tickets (limit 4 per person) for performances are available beginning the first of each month for the current month’s performance. Tickets can be obtained at the Information Desk in Sculpture Hall.
