Rudolf Stingel

This is the first U.S. exhibition of Stingel's monumental landscape paintings of his birthplace, Merano, in the Tryolean Alps, which were based on vintage black-and-white photographs. Exploring concerns of memory and decline, Stingel both records every nuance of detail in the landscapes and allows incidental debris and scuff to accumulate on finished paintings.
