Artist Lecture: Chelsea Knight
Join us to learn about the art and working process of New York-based artist Chelsea Knight, whose narrative-based videos, photographs, and participatory performances explore the crucial role language plays in everyday life, especially in the formation of relationships and the construction of power. Knight is featured in the Museum’s latest Currents exhibition and is this year’s Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellow at Washington University’s Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. A reception will be held before the lecture, at 5:30 pm at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum. The lecture will be held at 6:30pm at Steinberg Hall at Washington University St. Louis. Supported by the Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Endowment Fund, Freund Fellowships promote the exhibition and acquisition of contemporary art at the Saint Louis Art Museum, as well as the teaching of contemporary art principles in the Sam Fox School. Each fellowship consists of two month-long residencies, during which recipients teach in the Sam Fox School and prepare an exhibition for the Museum’s Currents series. PLEASE NOTE: This lecture takes place at Steinberg Hall at Washington University in St. Louis. For directions and parking information, visit www.wustl.edu/community/visitors/maps/.
