Maine's Portland Museum of Art has organized "Winslow Homer and the Poetics of Place," on view June 5 through September 6, 2010, in honor of the centennial of the artist’s death in September. The exhibition will showcase 20 works from the museum’s collection, including rarely exhibited watercolors.

Some of Homer's most beloved works will be shown such as Artists Sketching in the White Mountains (1868) and Weatherbeaten (1894) as well as his first oil painting, The Sharpshooter (1862).
