A strong gate and brisk sales to museums and private collectors energized the 13th annual Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair (aka Sofa) at the Park Avenue Armory, 16-19 April.

Japanese ceramicist Koike Shoko proved popular on opening night. Dealer Joan Mirviss sold out her offerings with works destined for the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Collectors were in a buying mood for museum-quality, funcational art, too. Cynthia Reeves got five commissions for Korean artist Jaehyo Lee's steel bolts, nails and wood benches, at $28,000 each.

A host of other sales included a Peter Voulkos 1979 Stack for $60,000 and a Dale Chihuly 1994 Persian in blue edged with vermilion for $23,000, from Palm Beach dealer Donna Schneier.
