Chinese Imperial clock leads $15.2 million Patricia Kluge sale

The contents of Albermarle House, the massive Virginia mansion owned by Patricia Kluge, brought in $15.2 million in a two-day sale conducted on-site by Sotheby's. The firm also sold sixteen pieces of jewelry and other pieces for Kluge in April, bringing total sales to $20.2 million.
The top lot was a spectacular Chinese Imperial clock made by the Guangzhou Workshops during the Qing Dynasty (Qianlong Period). An intense bidding battle for the rare piece resulted in a final hammer price of $3.8 million, more than triple the pre-sale high estimate of $1 million. The winning bidder was a Chinese private collector.
