Aspire Auctions is honored to handle the collection of 15 Flemish, Dutch and Belgian master paintings from the Harry R. Calsing Trust. Artists include Vrancx, Palamedesz, Saftleven, Molenaer, van der Vliet, Beyeren, van der Poel, Luycks, Borssom, Maes, Storck, Bout, Heemskerck. 

A notable pair or portraits by Nicolas Maes, identified by Sotheby's in 1989 as, Joose van Hoogenhouck (1644-1714) and his wife Anthonia des Quiens (1646-1676) of Leiden, married on January 11, 1667. He was a knight of the Holy Roman Empire and served as Councillor, Alderman and Burgomaster of the city of Leiden, and was a Governor of the West India Company of Amsterdam. Rarely do such portraits remain together for as many years as the two offered in this sale.

Mr. Calsing was a well known and respected collector of European paintings and these represent his finest and most treasured pieces, purchased over a span of twenty-five years. Each canvas has been well documented by way of provenance, exhibition, or inclusion into a catalogue raisonne. Most of these paintings were purchased at Christies or Sotheby's and have off the market for many years. The online auction catalogue and bidding may be viewed at www.aspireauctions.com.
