Nadeau’s Auction Gallery Partners with Invaluable for Online Bidding on The Important Annual Fall Antiques, Fine Art and Asian Auction

Invaluable, the world’s leading online live auction marketplace, and Nadeau’s Auction Gallery, Connecticut’s premier auction gallery, today announced online bidding for Nadeau’s Important Annual Fall Antiques, Fine Art and Asian Auction on the Invaluable platform. Featuring items from the Americana Collection from Credit Suisse in New York City, highlights from the auction include a variety of American antiques, more than 100 paintings and prints, Chinese and Japanese art and antiques, and a collection of decorative accessories. The auction is scheduled for November 7, 2015 at 11:00am ET, and bidders can view the entire catalog and place bids online in real-time on Invaluable, as well as via mobile device using the Invaluable app for iPad and iPhone.
Headlining the auction is property from the Credit Suisse Americana Collection, which was formerly housed at the firm's opulent U.S. headquarters on Madison Avenue in New York City. Paintings from the collection include several works by Daniel Huntington, including portraits of Cornelius Vanderbilt (estimated at $5,000 - $10,000), Abraham Alfonse Albert Gallatin (estimated at $3,000 - $5,000) and William Cullen Bryant (estimated at $3,000 - $5,000). Additional noteworthy lots from the collection include a colored Map of North America by Henry Popple (estimated at $3,000 - $5,000), a Currier & Ives print of the Clipper Ship “Sweepstakes” (estimated at $600 - $1,000) and a “Four American Flags” Quilt from 1890 (estimated at $400 - $800).

There are more than 100 paintings featured in the auction, including works from renowned marine artists, such as “Benares” by Antonio Jacobsen (estimated at $8,000 - $12,000) and “Skiff Leading to the Clipper Ship” watercolor by Montague Dawson (estimated at $4,000 - $8,000). Other noteworthy painting being offered include “The Reading Lesson” by John Henry Dolph (estimated at $4,000 - $7,000) and “Mountain Lake” by Charles H. Chapin (estimated at $2,500 0 $3,500).
The auction also features antique furniture, including a Federal camel back sofa (estimated at $3,000 - $5,000), a Chippendale cherry chest (estimated at $4,000 - $6,000) and a Sheraton mahogany sideboard (estimated at $2,500 - $4,500). Notable lots of Asian antiques include a pair of Ching Dynasty Chinese blue and white vases (estimated at $1,000 - $2,000), a pair of Chinese blue and white moon vases (estimated at $800 - $1,200) and a large Famille porcelain moon flask (estimated at $400 - $800).
