A recently released "death list" of prominent people and places, compiled in 1975 by the radical group known as the Balcombe Street terrorists, was found in an IRA safe house in London. After the arrest of some of the group's members, their target list was sealed for 36 years. Among the 96 places on the list are a number of museums such as the British Museum and the Imperial War Museum as well as the National Gallery, the Tate Gallery and the Queen's Gallery, housing the Royal Collection.
